Disgusted by cemetery closure

May I express my dismay and disbelief through your letters page concerning the very late opening of the Brunswick Street Cemetery on Father’s Day.

I attended the cemetery at 10pm with my elderly mother to visit my father’s grave at 10am, to be greeted by several other families wondering around as baffled and confused as we were.

We were all trying to find out the reason for closure, but to no avail.

I have recently discovered that a company which I cannot name, has the contract to open all the region’s cemeteries gates, but somehow, managed to ‘overlook’ Brunswick Street until midday, when a very helpful member of staff travelled from Wellesbourne to ensure the job had been done.

I actually witnessed people scaling walls to gain access.

To the contracted company - you know who you are. You ought to be ashamed of your actions.

On behalf of myself and other grieving families, you disgust me.
