Hope to see you again next year

The review by Lizzie Perring (Courier last week), following her attendance with her two year old daughter Ruby at the Family Concert given by Ensemble 360 at the Bridge House Theatre on Sunday February 16, needs some amplification, despite the criticism that Stan and Mabel lacked quiet moments.

The review really should have mentioned, besides the book of Stan and Mabel, the prize winning composer’s name, Paul Rissmann. He has contributed during the annual Music in the Round seasons, a series of marvellous scores, of which Sir Scallywag and the Golden Underpants last year was equally outstanding.

All the publicity put out by Leamington Music said the concert was aimed at 3-7 year olds, so we hope to see Lizzie and Ruby back on March 16 2015 for Paul Rissmann’s next commissioned work. And members of Ensemble 360 will again be visiting local schools in advance with workshops based on the score, as part of the Leamington Music Education Programme. This year, six primary schools in Kenilworth, Leamington and Warwick were visited and perhaps next year, Ruby’s school could invite Polly Ives, who narrates the stories so splendidly, and the musicians to include it when here.
