More consultation on HS2 route change

Equally, we share his concerns regarding the means by which it is reported that the Government is contemplating constructing extra tunnelling in the Chilterns. Undoubtedly the Chilterns boasts beautiful scenery, as does Warwickshire, but we hope and have a right to expect that the Chilterns gain will not prove to be Warwickshire’s loss.

Presumably, if the Government is seriously considering providing the Chilterns with additional tunnelling which may be at the expense of “...the deep cuttings and “green” tunnels further up the line.” (The Daily Telegraph, Saturday, December 3, 2011), then should it not also be considering launching a second consultation on the basis that the first consultation was predicated on the current existing route?

If there are to be further revisions to the existing route then all those who will be detrimentally affected will need to have an opportunity of being consulted and expressing their views on the proposals.
