Needs and safety of residents were ignored

Reading your article regarding a new Co-op supermarket on Woodloes Estate, I found the following comments confusing:- Richard Dunnett from the Cooperative Society stating that the store would double the amount of shopping that could be purchased on the Woodloes by elderly people. This site already has a supermarket, chemist, newsagents and confectionery store, post office and off-licence. I would therefore be grateful if he could confirm which products they intend to supply that are not already available.

Councillor Alan Rhead (Con) Budbrooke said our duty here is to look at (planning matters). What a shame the needs and safety of the constituents do not come into this. The proposed development is next to two schools - surely the safety of children, parents, and residents is a safety issue and therefore a planning matter?

I suggest this councillor visits the site when children are going to and leaving school the traffic is already horrendous. - Name and address supplied.
