No crowd control at Olympic torch event

Following much publicity I went to see the torch come through Leamington on Sunday.

I went in my wheelchair and sat outside the Priors entrance on the Parade. I got there two hours early and sat at the pavement edge.

When the torch arrived the crown rushed forward into road, completely swamping me. The coaches in the procession were brushing people at the front of the crowd.

There were no barriers where I stood. It looks like health and safety went out of the door, just a few people in orange visability vest trying to control the crowd but to no avail.

Surely with the crowds expected the barriers could have been extended from the town hall to the top of the Parade? - John Wilson, Sydenham
