Parking ticket mistake cost me £25

With reference to parking in Warwick, I’m not at all surprised at people parking anywhere they can without the fear of overstaying the parking ticket.

The New Street car park is so bad on its times. I had heard of the 50p night charge so, on Tuesday 14 February, I had an appointment at 7pm. I duly paid my 50p and went off after sticking the ticket in my car window.

Just before 8pm I arrived back at my car to find a penalty notice.

I’d been fined and couldn’t believe it after doing what I thought to be right. But no, Warwick District Council has decided to make their evening charges start at 8pm, not 6pm as I, or most people, would think.

So, anyone using New Street car park, Warwick, before 8pm, please note that you have to put the full price in for the daily prices, then go back to your car at 8pm to stick a further 50p in to get a night ticket. How sneaky is that?

My error cost me £25 plus the 50p which they don’t take off. - Linda Barnes, Gisburn Close, Woodloes Park, Warwick.
