Public inquiry will benefit everyone

Having just returned to Warwick after a week away I see that, yet again, the ongoing problem regarding Warwick District Council (WDC) and Racing Club Warwick is front page news in the Warwick Courier; this time indicating just how much we, as ratepayers, will have to pay, possibly due to lack of diligence by WDC.

This problem has been going on for many years, as articles in the Courier will testify, and I fully support Cllr Holland’s call for a public inquiry. Such an independent inquiry would, hopefully, finally resolve all the issues and, in the process, possibly save a considerable waste of money in the future, and that would be to everyone’s benefit.

Also, I would support the comment by Nigel Hamilton, (page 7 of the Warwick edition of The Courier), that such an inquiry could consider the wider issue of the whole of St. Mary’s Lands.

This area is a very valuable local asset which should be preserved and available for the wider public to enjoy to the full. The area is one that is much used by a diverse range of local people and visitors and its protection is important to all of us.
