Thanks to all for your support

The resplendent Trees of Light at Leamington town hall and St Margaret’s church Whitnash have been a splendid Christmas sight and have raised almost £4,000 for The Myton Hospices. Once again they have given so many people the opportunity to remember their family and friends who could not share their Christmas, while also helping the hospices in their essential care of very ill sufferers and their families.

We are proud of this success, but many people and organisations worked with us to make it possible.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Courier for the Trees of Light articles published during the weeks leading up to Christmas, and to the enthusiastic involvement of Warwick District Council, Leamington Town Council, Whitnash Town Council and the fundraising team from The Myton Hospices. Other organisations involved were the Baptist Church Music Group, the Spa Brass Band, St Margaret’s Music Group, Booth Electrical Contractors Ltd and Tandy UK Ltd. A huge number of individuals came together to make this all possible and to all of you we express our heartfelt thanks.

Surpassing even all this effort is the immense support and generosity of the townsfolk of Leamington and Whitnash this Christmas. We are most grateful to you.

We also hosted Santa Claus in Leamington’s Royal Priors shopping centre once again. Thanks to the kind help provided by the management and staff there, Santa enjoyed talking with over 350 children and gave each child a special present. Parents took snaps of their happy child with Santa and we made a profit of £300 for our other club charities.

This year our club celebrates its 90th year since its inauguration and we look forward to hosting more community events: a Celebration Dinner on March 27, our Golf Day on May 7 and the Raft Race on June 20. As always, their success will depend on public involvement and generosity to provide essential funds for a wide variety of charitable causes, detailed at our website www.sparotary.org.uk

Thank you everyone for your help, your donations and your support.
