We can help house community groups

I read with interest your piece ‘Community centre at heart of dispute’ (Courier March 2). WAYC (Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs) has a local community space - the Westbury Centre on Westlea Road, that could assist the Brunswick residents committee in their wish for additional local activities and a space in which to house them. We would be very happy to meet with Hughie McGuigan and Tony Carter to discuss how we could help them achieve their goal. We have already met with Councillor John Knight about this.

The Westbury Centre currently runs a youth club twice a week for 11-25 year olds on the Brunswick Estate, along with hosting a daytime arts class and sewing group, as well as dance classes on our sprung dance floor, a Tai Chi group, Samba football and a Zumba fitness class.

We would welcome the opportunity to work in partnership with the local residents association to help find a solution and a place for them to meet, hold events and activities, especially during the day and at weekends when we have spare capacity. - William Clemmey, Chief Executive, WAYC.
