Pair get ready to run in their saris and trainers for Two Castles Challenge

Education for Health chief executive Monica Fletcher and programme and funding manager Emma Crump, of Dhaka Ahsania Mission UK, are taking part in the Two Castles Run wearing saris.

They are taking part in the event to raise money to support the work their charities do in Bangladesh.

Dhaka Ahsania Mission’s award-winning work is with some of the most vulnerable people in urban and rural communities across Bangladesh, supporting a number of projects that focus on education, skills training, water and sanitation, street and working children and the prevention of trafficking.

Education for Health have been providing volunteer education for health trainers, learning materials, clinical equipment and patient materials to raise levels of care and create a self-perpetuating system of education for doctors, nurses and pharmacists in Bangladesh.

Monica said: “The biggest challenge for us is that we will both be running in saris.

“This will be to publicise our two charities’ work in Bangladesh and hopefully to encourage people to donate to two very good causes.”

Emma added: “Additionally, it will give us an even bigger challenge, bring some colour to the event and remind us of the incredible people of Bangladesh.

“We know it will not be easy but we will be supporting each other every step of the way.”
