Pedestrian seriously injured on A46 flyover

A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car on the A46 flyover near Warwick on Tuesday night.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was rushed to hospital after the incident along the flyover over the M40 from Sherbourne at around 10pm.

He was given emergency treatment at the scene and is thought to have suffered serious leg fractures and had suspected pelvic injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said “Crews arrived to find a man who had been struck by a car and suffered multiple serious injuries.

“The man was administered with pain relief and due to his injuries was sedated at the scene.

“Once his condition was stabilised he was transferred by land ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further emergency treatment and a trauma team were awaiting his arrival.

“Unfortunately the man’s injuries were very serious.”

An ambulance and paramedic officer were on scene. Nobody else is thought to have been hurt in the incident.
