A big boost for our town centre - Bikefest to return to Rugby later this year

Rugbeians who are all revved up will have some place to go when the hugely-popular Rugby Bikefest returns to the town in September.

This year the free family festival includes a ‘ride-in’, bike displays, stalls, live music, children’s activities, funfair and food.

Those who prefer dashboard lights to silver, black phantom bikes are also catered to by a car display - often featuring iconic and modified classics.

The event usually attracts around 8,000 attendees by the time the day is done and the sun goes down - providing a big boost for our town centre's businesses.

Coronavirus forced the cancellation of last year's event - but the go-ahead for this year means that by the end of 2021 the event will have been held on two out of three years which, as a famous bike enthusiast once said - ain't bad.

Ryan Webster, BID Operations Manager Rugby First, said: “At last we have some good news and something we can all look forward to.

"It has been an extremely challenging twelve months for town centre businesses, not only in Rugby, but across the country.

The bikefest attracts around 8,000 visitors to the town centre and businesses, especially those in the hospitality sector, will expect to benefit from a significant uplift in takings.”

“A big thank you to the local biking groups that support this event, and I would encourage anyone – bike enthusiast or not to put the date in their diary and come into the town centre and enjoy a great day out.

Those wondering when to get their motor running and head out on the highway should mark 10am to 4pm on Sunday, September 26, as the date of the festival.
