Juggy Chima, of the Leamington and Warwick Coventry City Supporters Club said: "We have raised £500 so far since the suspension of the football season via online fundraising initiatives such as a football card and raffle.

"These are revealed live on a Saturday afternoon (when the matches would have taken place) on our Facebook page.

"Donations have been received from our 230-strong local members (and some non-members) after many asked for the supporters club to utilise the links we have made as Coventry City fans in a positive manner during these difficult times.

"Myself, Paul Howes and Aggy Martin have come up with these initiatives, which have seen £250 donated to the nurses (via the purchase of hand cream) and children (activity packs and chocolates) at Warwick Hospital, and now just over £250 for Leamington and Warwick Foodbank.

"We are now running an 'FA Cup competition' over the next five weeks to raise further funds, and have a charity football match planned between a team made up of Midlands' Football Legends and our members once the current restrictions are lifted to give money/gifts directly to frontline staff."

Miriam Bowen, from the Warwick District Foodbank, said: "Warwick District Foodbank is extremely grateful for the support we have received from Leamington and Warwick Coventry City Supporters Club.

"It's great to hear that in the absence of any football matches the supporters have still managed to raise a substantial amount of funds.

"This donation is full of the items which we need the most - it's really helpful that Juggy took time to find this out.

"Without help from local groups we couldn't help those who are struggling to make ends meet at this difficult time so this donation is very much appreciated."

Dave Boddy CEO of Coventry City FC said: "We’re delighted and proud to see the Leamington and Warwick Supporters Club doing such fantastic fundraising work to support the local community in these difficult times for everyone.

"We have worked closely with them over the last few years, and there dedication to the football club and their community is huge and it’s great to see their commitment extend to this work at this time too."
