The festival, which included the Coventry Half Marathon, was due to take place on April 5.

However due to concerns about coronavirus and the wider implications of runner and spectator safety and the 'burdon' that could be put on public services, the organisers have decided to cancel the event and reschedule it.

The organisers issued the following statement:

"Following discussions with authorities, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that the 2020 event is being rescheduled to a date later in the year.

"We want to bring the very best atmosphere and event to runners and spectators and current circumstances would prevent this.

"As you may be aware, the government has advised event organisers to be mindful how their events could be a burden on public services.

"As a true community event this is not what we want. The situation is also changing rapidly and we’d rather avoid prolonged uncertainty and give you all as much time as possible to reschedule your training and travel plans.

"We understand that this poses questions regarding what happens next. All entrants should have received an email today about their entries. A further update will follow on Thursday 26th March.

"Thank you for your understanding and patience. We are truly saddened that we cannot welcome you to our fantastic event on the 5th April and we look forward to seeing you soon for an amazing event later in the year."
