A spokesperson for the Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service posted the following about the fire on social media: "Our crews were called to a baler on fire, which has spread to a field and hay bales on a farm near Shipston-on-Stour.

"Crews acted quickly in a challenging environment to tackle the fire and stop it spreading further using beaters, hose reels and main jets. Due to the location and lack of access to a water supply, the water carrier was used to supply water directly to the fire ground.

"With the drier ground, fires like this can easily get out of control and spread causing widespread destruction to the land and local wildlife."

Firefighters were alerted at 2.27pm yesterday, Wednesday June 24, to reports of a fire at Tidmington Farm, Ditchford Road, Tidmington near Shipston.

Four crews attended (from Shipston, Wellesbourne and Stratford) and, on arrival, found one field of straw and hay (approx 200 square metres) well alight.

The field contained one industrial tractor unit, which was also well alight.

Crews were at the scene for around four hours.
