A fireworks trail is being organised in Leamington in place of the usual fireworks display hosted by a school.

The trail, which is also a fundraiser, is being organised by the PTA at Brookhurst School.

Nicki Scott, who is chair of the PTA said: "Every year we normally hold a big family friendly display for everyone in the local area.

"It’s a huge fundraiser for us and this year we are missing it greatly, especially as our new project is to buy and fit a new library bus for the school which we hope to open up to the wider community in the future.

"As an alternative to the bonfire display, we are holding 'The Great Brookhurst Fireworks Trail'."

The trail is due to take place from November 5 to November 8 and the idea is that residents and businesses take part by having firework themed window displays.

Nicki added: "Each window display will have a letter and there will be a map to pay for (£3) and download (hard copies will be available).

"The idea is to collect all the letters, work out the words and then each entrant will go into the hat for a prize draw.

"It’s free to have a display but there will also be prizes for the 'best in show' and 'most creative'.

"We have nearly 50 displays taking part already and are keen to encourage more.

"The trail will take place primarily in western, central and northern Leamington, although anyone and everyone can do the trail itself."

If anyone would like to get involved with a window display, they should email [email protected] by October 23.

Details on how to pay for and download the map will be coming soon.
