Kenilworth Railway Station is the latest place in Kenilworth to get a piece of life-saving equipment installed.

Kenilworth HeartSafe (KHS) is a charity that was established last year and their objective is to achieve town-wide coverage of life-saving Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) available to the public 24/7.

Funding came from Warwickshire County Council and Warwick District Council's Community Forum Fund and Kenilworth Town Council (Community Grant) and the remaining cost of the equipment, installation and on-going annual maintenance is funded by West Midlands Railway.

Keith Grierson, chairman of Kenilworth HeartSafe, said: "This is yet another great example of business, local government and charities working together for our community."

Brenda Lawrence, head of stations for West Midlands Railway, said: “Since it opened in 2018 Kenilworth Station has been a big success, with more than 170,000 passenger entries and exits recorded last year.

"We hope no customer will ever need this life-saving equipment but we are proud to have worked in partnership with Kenilworth HeartSafe and others to support the health and wellbeing of the community.”

KHS have increased the number of AEDs that are available 24/7 from five to 16 in the past 12 months, and soon expect to achieve total community-wide coverage.

They have also been providing CPR training free of charge. Unfortunately due to the current Covid-19 pandemic this has been temporarily suspended.
