Mystery solved - the loud explosion in Rugby last night appears to have been caused by gas canisters

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service told the Advertiser they were called to reports of smoke coming from a derelict building on Ashlawn Road.
They said: "We had four appliances in attendance and, on arrival, crews found a two-storey building approx 650 square meters, derelict, 50 per cent involved with fire, 100 per cent smoke.

Hide Ad"There were a number of reports of explosions being heard prior to crews arrival and this seems to have been discarded gas canisters within the property.
"Crews were detained at the scene until around midnight.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were made aware of the incident but were not required to attend.
Residents have told the Advertiser they believe the fire happened at the abandoned CIA Insurance building.
