A new president has now taken over the helm at the Warwick Lions Club,

Members of club, which serves both the Warwick and Leamington areas, gathered for a social distanced event last Wednesday evening.

They attend an alfresco dinner at the Lighthorne Pavilion Cafe’ for their annual changeover meeting where outgoing President Tamara Friedrich, while socially distanced, handed over her chain of office to new President Hannah Johnson.

Tamara said: "It was an honour to serve the club as President this past year.

"While we faced tough challenges due to the pandemic, we still found a way to come together (virtually) to support the many who are suffering greatly in our community.

“I know Hannah will be a fantastic President. She is a business owner and an avid volunteer, and will bring both empathy and great leadership into her role.”

As part of her inaugural address Hannah told members that the forthcoming year was likely to be a difficult one for the club as many of this autumns major fundraising events are likely to be cancelled due to the restraints of social distancing.

This would cause the club a massive shortfall in funding and members should therefore focus on new service and community goals designed to make a positive impact without requiring large amounts of financial support.
