Public play areas and equipment closed by Warwick District Council amid Coronavirus pandemic

In line with the strict new measures announced by the government to fight the coronavirus emergency Warwick District Council has closed all children’s play areas, outdoor gym equipment, public toilets and tennis courts until further notice.

While all of the district’s public parks and open spaces remain open, the Council is appealing to local people in the strongest possible terms to adhere to the rules stated by the government regarding social distancing when visiting.

Warwick District’s Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services, Councillor David Norris said: “We are urging everyone in our district to play their part in protecting the NHS and saving lives in this national emergency.

"In the coming weeks as we move into the spring and summer, a daily walk or run in one of our parks is going to play an increasingly important role in maintaining your health and wellbeing.

"However, the Council will not be able to keep these spaces open if local people do not adhere to the social distancing rules; visiting for exercise either by yourself or with the people you live with, maintaining a distance of more than two metres from other users, not gathering in groups of more than two and limiting visits to once a day.”
