The pupil tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday, March 8.

They had returned from a trip to Italy, and, after self isolating for 14 days, returned to school but began showing symptoms of the virus.

On March 11 the school released an update - a spokesperson said: "Following our statement of 8 March, Learning Today Leading Tomorrow can confirm that Rugby Free Secondary School has no further cases of coronavirus reported.

"We are in regularly contact with the family of the student affected who are happy for us to share that their child is feeling very well and will be back with us very soon.

"The school and Trust are continuing to liaise closely with Public Health England, Warwickshire County Council and the Regional Schools Commissioner’s office.

"The school remains open, is fully operational and calm.

"Children and staff are following the new hygiene procedures that have been introduced during the day and at lunch time.

"The Trust will continue to operate business as usual and will make a further statement should the situation change."
