Rugby nurse shaves head to raise funds for The Myton Hospices - here's how you can help too

47-year-old critical care and cardiac nurse Nic Marsh shaved her head in memory of her cousin who died of bowel cancer just over two years ago at Warwick Myton Hospice.

Nic set up her JustGiving page (see bit.ly/2wYYqZI) on April 1, reaching her £100 fundraising target within half an hour.

The fundraiser is still running, and so far Nic has raised more than £2,200.

Nic previously lost her hair when she had radiotherapy for Hodgkin Lymphoma aged just 18 and made a full recovery.

She said: “My cousin died at Warwick Myton, my godfather was also supported by Myton and I know people who work at Coventry Myton, so it is a local charity close to my heart.

"My hair grows really fast so I know it will grow back quickly and I wanted to do something good for Myton at this difficult time.”

Myton is faced with a lot of cuts to its fundraising at at present, so they are asking for brave members of the public to help.

Anyone wishing to put their hair to the clippers to help is asked to set up a JustGiving page to raise sponsors.

And if you send a photo of yourself to [email protected], they will send you custom artwork to share on social media.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "Whether you brave the shave, trim your tresses, or even go for a DIY-dye, all Myton asks is that you get sponsored and share your before and after photos."
