A specially-trained army team is testing Rugbeians for Covid-19 at a mobile site set up at the Newbold Road car park.

Testing at the site began yesterday, April 30, and Rugby Borough Council said the site will be running daily from 10.30am to 3.30pm for at least the next week.

Mobile facilities of the type in Rugby are being used across the country - with the government saying they can be set up in around 20 minutes and facilitate hundreds of tests a day.

The government advises that, to be eligible for a test, you must have symptoms of coronavirus and fall into one of the following groups:

An essential worker, someone aged 65 or over, someone who cannot work from home and has coronavirus symptoms - for example, construction workers or delivery drivers.

Anyone with coronavirus symptoms can apply for a test if they live with an essential worker, a person aged 65 or over, or someone who travels to work.

You can also apply for a test if you have a clinical referral from NHS 111 online.
