I went to post a letter at my newsagents, Bridge St post office. We queued outside, to comply with the 'two only in the shop' rule that Raj, the shopkeeper, had established. When I got inside there was a long wait while a customer posted a pile of parcels, so after several minutes I replaced the two Quaker Oats I had taken from the shelf and waving to Raj I left, postponing posting my letter. This morning at 9am Raj knocked on my front door carrying two packets of Oats and taking away my letter - "pay when you're next in". Doesn't that make one feel good! Add it to the three neighbours who have offered to fetch our groceries.

I wanted to thank Ali Bond who is offering free coaching to me during the coronavirus outbreak. This has helped me massively with my mental health and anxiety. The last two weeks would have been a darker place without her.

In answer to your request of people showing acts of kindness I thought I would mention the New Life church in Friars Street, Warwick, who handed out eight food boxes to the old folks who live in Westgate Close and Friars Street. My mum, Barbara Bagley, being one of them, who at 82 is classed as vulnerable. The act of kindness made her week and she was thrilled, having lost my dad five weeks ago to sepsis she is having to deal with this crisis on her own after 65 years or marriage and is doing amazingly well, so these acts of kindness are so so special.

We are deeply touched, So a big thank you to them.

I would like to mention Corenna Jennings, who is the manageress of our Community Shop in Barford village. The shop and Post Office is manned by about 80 volunteers, most being retired folk and many over 70 years of age. However, many are not able to volunteer now because of age or other health reasons. Corenna has been amazing throughout. She has rallied the 'youngsters' in the village to come forward and help out, & has had an army of them volunteer. Although the opening hours have been slightly reduced, the shop can remain open, with all safety measures put in place. The shop has been busier than usual due to people not driving into town, but Corenna has managed to keep ordering provisions and stocking the shelves to try and keep everyone happy. She has done a marvellous job & is absolutely shattered with the work she has put in to keep everything going. She never complains and is very proud of our village shop and I think that she deserves some recognition.

Please can you acknowledge Paul Warren in Bishops Itchington. He is going well above and beyond for the community at the moment. Making vegs box deliveries, daily bread making kits and more! He is a God send to those less fortunate at present!

We’re most of the way through our self-isolation (due to a child with a temperature). I wanted to recognise that at a time when the supermarkets couldn’t deliver, we’ve been able to feed our family of four thanks to the local businesses and the volunteers who have helped deliver. I’d like to praise everyone who has kept the Budgens operation running. And also Hayley at Andrew Davies Bakery, for helping get our order delivered, and Ian at Castle Butchers who dropped our meat order in himself after work. I’ve been guilty of over reliance on the big supermarkets. When this is over I will remember that it was our fantastic local businesses who kept us going, and my shopping patterns will change. Shorter term, I’m looking forward to joining the volunteer army myself when house arrest is over. The start of this saw panic buyers strip the shelves and show that humans can be selfish and panicky and thoughtless. Then my faith was restored by a community that showed that humanity can be wonderful and selfless and kind.

Molly Bufton Stear has been an absolute pleasure and a godsend. Delivering home cooked hot meals to the most vulnerable of Kenilworth. Molly started doing meals on her own, using her own finances, she then went on to doing a personal page on Kenilworth Facebook and it rapidly grown from there. She really is treasure and I cannot express how greatful I am. Thank you Molly I can't wait to meet up when this is all over. I just cannot repay you enough. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart xx
