Two Kenilworth sisters have been recognised once again for the role they have played in helping others during the coronavirus pandemic.

Ciara and Seanna Hamill have been given an award by Kenilworth Lions for service to the community - a similar award given to the Covid-19 Kenilworth Community Group, previously reported in the KWN and Courier.

The young entrepreneurs set up the social enterprise SanHanzUK when they tried to source hand sanitiser to help their mum but discovered inflated prices and dubious products.

The sisters said: "We are delighted with the award and so pleased to be receiving a similar award to the Covid-19 Kenilworth Community Group - who’ve been brilliant for the community.

"At 17 and 20 we are flattered to be recognised by the Lions as they play such an important part in our town."

They have already given bottles to foodbanks and other groups in need - and now they have set themselves another challenge.

They added: "During the awards we discussed Waverley Day Centre and the important part it plays on our community - the importance of it to our elderly residents and their families too.

"Their finances are stretched and sanitiser is a product that invariably costs money.

"To that end we have set a challenge with our new product - personalised sanitiser bottles - for school kids and adults alike.

"When we sell 100 we shall provide enough sanitiser for 50 bottles to Waverley Day Centre.

"We maintain our commitment to our community and can proudly say we have gifted over 2,000 bottles of EN14476 approved sanitiser since the start of the pandemic.

"Bottles are priced from £2.50 and we hope to continue with the support of our community."
