A Warwick-based company has donated clothing to people in need.

Manufacturing company Leadec, which is based in Academy Drive, found they had a surplus of stock of work wear and rather than destroying or returning it they decided to donate the items.

More than 1,000 pairs of trousers were delivered to the council, who have now made arrangements to distribute them to William Wallsgrove House in Leamington as well as charities in the Warwick district including the Salvation Army and Helping Hands.

Cllr Matecki said: "This type of gesture, really can make a big difference. I want to thank Leadec for their very practical donation which will benefit some of the most vulnerable in our society.”

Leadec’s board of management added: “In our process of reviewing our supply base which has altered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we identified that we were holding surplus stock of old workwear, which is no longer current specification.

"We’re delighted that a member of our staff used her initiative to find a positive use for these products.

"We, at Leadec, hope that the distribution of the garments to local homeless shelters and charities will provide a small comfort to those needing support.”
