Rogue market trader faces prison

A ROGUE trader who sold counterfeit clothing on Wellesbourne market has been ordered to pay a £60,000 Proceeds of Crime Confiscation order - or face 20 months in prison.

The order to pay the cash was made following a successful prosecution by the county Trading Standards Service who have so far won orders totalling almost £217,000.

At Warwick Crown Court, just before Christmas, Zaheer Ahmed, (33) of Avondale Road, Birmingham, was ordered to pay the money to compensate for his crimes.

At Leamington magistrates last year he pleaded guilty to 14 offences under the Trade Marks Act. He was later sentenced at Warwick to 26-week custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months.
