Scorching day for school fete

PERFECT summer weather shined down on pupils, staff and families at Claverdon Primary School’s fundraising fete recently.

Around £3,500 was raised towards upgrading the school’s IT equipment at the event, which included a red, white and blue-themed fun run to get people into the Jubilee spirit, a mini steam train, tractor rides, bouncy castle, pig roast, tombola, cream teas, ice creams, penalty shoot-out, dancing display, stalls and more.

Some 100 children and 50 adults took part in the 2k run and were cheered on by onlookers across the village.

The school also launched the Claverdon scarecrow trail, which is inviting people to spot homemade scarecrows in a variety of Jubilee and Olympic-themed guises across the village.
