Six fire engines tackle barn blaze at Ryton Fields Farm, Ryton on Dunsmore

Warwickshire Fire Control received a large number of 999 calls to a barn fire at Ryton Fields Farm, Wolston Lane, Ryton on Dunsmore.

The calls were received at 7.04pm on Friday May 1.

Two fire engines from Leamington attended.

A request was made for further two fire engines, which attended from Rugby and Southam.

Further fire engines attended from Kenilworth, Atherstone, Coleshill and a fire engine from West Midlands Fire Service.

At the height of the fire there were six engines, a water bowser and a command support vehicle in attendance.

The fire involved a single storey barn, approximately 80 metres by 50 metres, containing hay and agricultural machinery.

The barn was 100 per cent affected by fire.

Firefighters extinguished the fire using hose reel jets, light portable pumps, thermal image cameras and the water bowser.

Crews were on site throughout the night.
