Southam pupils sow tin seeds of charity

SOUTHAM children learned about the importance of reaping what you sow last week when they gathered in a harvest of their own - of tins.

Pupils at Southam Primary School held the harvest festival in which they learned about how food is grown and produced.

But they also heard about helping people who may be homeless or cannot afford regular meals, and brought in donations of tins and packets to give to the Salvation Army’s Way Ahead Project, which provides support to vulnerable people in the Leamington area.

The donations were collected by grateful Salvation Army cadet Leanne Wallis.

Headteacher Emma Longworth said: “Children and families all donated food which was passed on to the Salvation Army.

“It was very humbling to see the amount of food that was donated - it just goes to show what a caring community Southam Primary School is.”
