Sowing, planting...and weeding at Guy’s Cliffe

Volunteers were expected to be continuing restoration work on Guy’s Cliffe Walled Garden this weekend.

On Good Friday last week they counted 96 visitors to their open day at the old Victorian kitchen garden behind Hintons Nursery on Coventry Road, Warwick.

Dr Brain Meatyard is hoping to encourage some of the more able-bodied to try their hands at a spot of sowing - or weeding.

The next open day for those interested in the project will be on May 16 when the volunteers are holding an event called the Fascination of Plants.

Dr Meatyard says this will focus on the importance of plants in our everyday lives, as food, sources of raw material and medicine and the importance of sustainable horticulture.
