A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival they found a small car on its roof. They were told that the car had left the road, gone up the embankment and collided with a tree.

“The driver, a 19-year-old lady from Norfolk, who is a student in the area, had managed to get out of the car even though the roof had been crushed down to such a degree that it was touching the head rest.

“She was sheltering in a car of another motorist who had stopped at the scene.

“The teenager was given a thorough check up by ambulance staff but she was completely uninjured and did not require hospital treatment.

“Crews described her escape from injury as extremely fortunate.”
