Students celebrate A-level results

Campion School’s students in Leamington achieved an excellent set of results, with a 100 per cent pass rate.

48 per cent of results were graded at either A* or A, 62 per cent were A* to B, and 87 per cent were A* to C.

Kirsty Partridge will be off to Warwick University after gaining one A*, one A and one B, and will be joined by Amy Stickley, who achieved two As and one C.

Dan Arthur will be heading to Bath University and Anil Sandhu will head to Manchester University after both achieved one A*, one A and one B.

New headteacher Jassa Panesar said: ““We are delighted for all our Year 13 pupils who worked so hard and have achieved so highly.

“These are great young people who we have known for seven years - it’s such a pleasure to see that they have done so well.”

Six students at Kenilworth School and Sixth Form managed to gain a place at Oxbridge and a record number will attend their first-choice university.

Headteacher Hayden Abbott said: “I would like to congratulate the students for achieving such great results at A-level.

“They have worked consistently hard over the last two years and fully deserve this success.

“I wish them well as they move onto to their chosen universities or places of work.

“Thanks are also due to the staff who have supported our students and we all wish them every success in the future.”

Warwickshire College Group students at Royal Leamington Spa College and Rugby College have achieved an outstanding set of results, improving year-on-year for the past six years with a 98.6 per cent pass rate.

Hollie Parsons, 24, achieved three A grades and secured a place at Nottingham University to study Veterinary Medicine. She said: “I did my GCSEs at home before coming to college to do my A-levels.

“I was a bit older than some of the students so thought it might be difficult, but everyone’s been great.

“I don’t think it has all sunk in yet!”

Helen Kinghorn, Vice Principal at Warwickshire College Group said: “We are absolutely delighted with our outstanding A-Level results this year – it is a real testament to the talent, hard work and dedication of our students and staff.”

“Congratulations to the students who have achieved this fantastic success with the college.

“We wish them all the very best for the future, whatever they choose to do.”

Aylesford School and Sixth Form College in Warwick also achieved highly, with a 100 per cent rate. 22 per cent of results were A* or A, 50 per cent were from A* to B, and 76 per cent of results were from A* to C.

Samuel Lewis and Theo Rutter achieved particularly impressive results, with Samuel achieving one A* and two As, and Theo achieving two A*s and one B.

Steve Hall, Aylesford’s headmaster, said: “These are the strongest set of overall A-level results in my time at the school.

“We are delighted with the overall quality of the outcomes for our final year A-level students.”

Students at Myton School in Warwick did very well and maintained their high standards from last year. Simon Cooper and Kingsley Hunt both earned two A*s and two As, and Alice Clarke achieved two A*s and one A grade.

Paul MacIntyre, the school’s headteacher, said: “We would like to congratulate all of our students - the governors and staff are justifiably proud of their achievements.

“They deserve their successes, and we wish them well as they progress to their chosen university or career.

“They will always be members of the Myton family and we know they will go forward to make our world a better place.”

Southam College students achieved outstanding grades. 32 per cent of results were either A* or A grades, and 63 per cent of results were graded A* to B.

Emily Edwards achieved two A*s and one A and will study at Leeds University, Ellie Potter will attend Oxford University after obtaining one A* and two A grades, Scarlet Wakele will head to Durham after her A* and three A grades, and Taryn Skitt’s A* and two As means he will earn a place at Warwick.

Assitant headteacher Keith Bradbury said: “We are really pleased with the success of all our students and wish them the very best for their future.”

Students at North Leamington School’s Sixth Form achieved a 99 per cent pass rate with A* to B grades increasing by nine per cent since last year.

High performing students included Nicola Bywater, who achieved two A*s and one A, Sarah Owen and Patrick Lewenz, who both earned one A* and two As, and Beth Howell, who obtained three A grades.

The school’s headteacher, Joy MItchell, said: “These results reflect the tremendous amount of hard work and commitment of both students and their teachers when expectations nationally are rising year on year.

“I am convinced that our student’s results will put them in a strong position for successful pathways beyond school, whether it be university entrance, apprenticeships or employment.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all students, their parents and staff for their contirbution in achieving these excellent results.”

Kineton High School’ students achieved a 98.4 per cent rate, with a fifth of results being either A* or A, and a record-breaking 70 per cent of grades being from A* to C.

Shaun Price earned a place at Imperial College London with his A* and two As, and Daisy Miller’s three A grades got her into Newcastle University.

Siona Robson, the headteacher, said: “We are immensely proud of all our students who through their hard work and dedication, high quality teaching and support, achieved their personal best.”

Students at Princethorpe College achieved a great set of results, with over a quarter of results being either A* or As, and over three-quarters being graded from A* to C.

Headmaster Ed Hester said; “We have had more top grades than ever before and the results show how the hard work of both students and staff has been rewarded.

“Whilst we are of course delighted with their academic achievements, these students have many other fine qualities: kindness, respect and a strong sense of right and wrong which will be as important for them as they move on to the next phase of their lives.”

Trinity Catholic School surpassed last year’s results, and Chris Gabbett, the prinicpal, said: “I would like to congratulate all of our year 13 who will be going on to the pathway of their choice.

Most importantly, this is not just about results, and all of these students have added to a caring, responsible and vibrant community, and I thank them for that most of all.”

Students at King’s High School for Girls in Warwick achieved highly, with 63.4 per cent of results being either A* or As, 77 per cent were A* to B, and 96 per cent being A* to C.

All Oxbridge candidates secured their places. Hannah Taylor obtained four A* grades and will go on to study Maths at the University of Exeter.

Daniella Cugini, a Foyles’ Young Poet of the Year, earned three A*s and an A and will read English at Cambridge.

Elinor Foster also achieved three A*s and one A grade to ensure her place to read Geography at Oxford.

Bryony Atkin and Molly Hope attained three A*s each and will be reading History at Durham and English at York respectively.

Amelia Giudici achieved the A* and two As she needed to confirm her place to read Philosophy at Cambridge.

Headmistress Elizabeth Surber said: “We are delighted to see the hard work and dedication of our girls and staff rewarded with these good results.

“Congratulations and best wishes to all of our girls!”

Warwick School’s results were excellent. 52 per cent of results achieved were graded at A* or A. Peter Lau achieved an astonishing six A* grades, ensuring his place at Trinity College, Cambridge to read Mathematics.

Additionally, Conor Cafolla, Daniel Ellis, Carl Martin, Thomas Maycock, Thomas Meldrum and Isaac Mond all achieved four or more A* grades,

Headmaster Gus Lock said: “I am delighted that our students are enjoying excellent examination results, excelling across all subject areas and achieving at a level of which they can be incredibly pleased.”

“This has been an outstanding cohort in every way: they have shone both academically and outside the classroom and, above all, have been a great pleasure to know and to teach.

“They are exceptional young men of whom we are very proud indeed.”

Students at The Kingsley School in Leamington earned excellent results. 34 per cent of results were either A* or As, and 84 per cent were graded from A* to C. Former deputy head girl Charlotte Barrow achieved one A* and two A grades.

Other high achievers included Amber Martin and twins Tilly and Ella Worlidge, who all obtained top grades including A*s.

Headteacher Heather Owens said: “Year after year I am thrilled with the girls’ academic success – this year I am especially pleased that whilst the national proportion of A*s has dropped, Kingsley’s has doubled.”
