Sun shines on crowds at 70th Kenilworth Show

The sun shone on the 70th Kenilworth Show as thousands took the chance to sample country life at its best.

The annual event is the largest one-day agricultural show held in Coventry and Warwickshire and attracted visitors from all over the country to the showgrounds at Stoneleigh Park. A milk theme was adopted by organisers Kenilworth and District Agricultural Society (KADAS) for this year’s event and lifted the lid on all the different processes involved over the years in how milk makes its ways from the udder to the fridge, including robotic milking. A countryside area featuring clay pigeon shooting, rifle shooting and dog scurry challenges, was also introduced for the first time, while main ring attractions included performances from quad bike stuntman the Kangaroo Kid, Midland Heavy Horses and mini tractor pulling. A grand parade of livestock also took centre stage, along with competitive horse, cattle and sheep competitions held throughout the day. Lizz Clarke, secretary of KADAS and the Kenilworth Show, said: “We’re really pleased so many people joined us for what was a great day out. We hope everyone who came along had fun and enjoyed sampling a bit of country life and everyone associated with KADAS extends our gratitude to all our sponsors, members, exhibitors and visitors as without each and every one of them the Kenilworth Show wouldn’t be what it is today.”
