Support needed for Kenilworth Food Drive

FOOD donations are being called in across Kenilworth as part of a second weekend drive to help those in need across the UK.

Sainsbury’s staff are taking part in the nationwide appeal in partnership with FareSharedrive to help tackle food poverty across the country.

The annual Million Meal Appeal will run over the weekend of October 6 and 7 in hope of bringing in enough food to help more than 700 charities. Last year’s appeal in the town was a huge success and staff are hoping to match it this time round.

Jean Fletcher from the town store said: “We really need people to get behind this and help donate as much as possible to feed people in need. We usually support the town Food Bank but this will be a weekend where you can do your bit for anyone across the UK, though a lot of help will come back to us in Kenilworth.”

Residents are asked to donate items including tinned food, dried pasta, pasta sauce, rice, tea and instant coffee. A collection box will be places in store throughout the weekend.
