Mr Gammon, a 42-year-old father-of-one who lives in Warwick and teaches music at Arnold Lodge School, is an experienced endurance runner having completed several 100 and 80-mile races and he will be covering ground well known to him when he takes on a new challenge starting on Friday November 6.

He will run the full courses of the Stratford half-marathon, Warwick half-marathon, Coventry half-marathon, Kenilworth half-marathon, Regency 10K Run and Two Castles 10K Run back-to-back with as little as a ten minute break before reaching the start line of the Birmingham League Cross-Country race at Newbold Comyn on November 7 at 2.30pm.

And he is asking people to acknowledge and support his effort by donating shoe boxes containing gifts for some of the world’s poorest children as part of the Opertaion Christmas Child campaign run by the Samaritan’s Purse charity.

Mr Gammon said: “An old friend of mine used to collect between 200 and 300 boxes for the appeal every year but he has now left the area so I have taken on the role myself.

“It’s such a lovely appeal and it’s easier for me to get involved in than say running The London Marathon where there’s an application process.

“It’s so easy for people to get involved by spending just £5 to fill a show box and it makes a difference to these children very quickly and clearly.”

Mr Gammon will also be going door to door to collect the gift boxes personally and is aiming to give 500 to the appeal by the deadline on November 10.
