Warwickshire chooses its new police chief
Members of the constabulary’s police authority unanimously voted in favour of recommending Dep Chief Cons Parker, who has been in his role for the past five years. The recommendation will now be forwarded to the Home Office for approval.
The force’s current Chief Constable, Keith Bristow, was recently selected to lead the new National Crime Agency and will leave the force later this year.

Hide AdPhil Robson, chair of Warwickshire Police Authority said: “Andy Parker has been a very capable Deputy Chief Constable and has a proven track record of delivering operational results and managing organisational change.
“His appointment ensures consistency of professional leadership at a time when the force is entering into a strategic alliance with West Mercia Police and will ensure that the change programme continues to be driven forward.”
The temporary appointment, from a date to be announced, will continue until June 30 2013, allowing the Police and Crime Commissioner appointed in November 2012 to familiarise themselves with the force before beginning a process to appoint a new Chief Constable.
The police authority is planning to meet later this week to consider who will fill the Deputy Chief Constable position.
