Woman injured while stopping suspected car thief

They helped to detain a 25-year-old man from the town who had been acting suspiciously around a vehicle in Vicarage Fields at about 9.40pm.

Police officers arrived and arrested the man on suspicion of assault and attempted theft from a motor vehicle.

He is currently in police cells where he is awaiting questioning by officers.

The woman was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment to a suspected broken bone in her hand.
