Avenue’s Nationals triple are keeping it in the family

Three generations of one family will be taking part in the England Nationals after Avenue qualified for the triples finals at Victoria Park.

The trio of Hannah Smith, mother Lisa Smith and grandmother Yvonne Pick have also reached the county final , with 12-year-old Hannah believed to be the youngest player to qualify for the Nationals.

They will be taking part in the triples at Rugby Thornfield on July 25, with their Nationals debut on August 11.

Warwick Boat Club and Snitterfield will both have two representatives at the Warwick Town Triples Day.

Whitnash, Leamington, WCC and a mixed Pottertons/Leamington team make up the final eight, who will be battling it out at Boat Club on Sunday August 3.

Ron Reynolds gained WCC Staff’s sole rink win as they suffered a 14-shot defeat to Little Compton in a four-rink, mixed friendly triples.

Whitnash Ladies drew 43-43 with the ladies from Rugby Thornfield, with their highest winning rink was skipped by Mal Eaton (13-11).

In another tight encounter, Whitnash went down 28-26 to Stoke in a two-rink triples.

Joan Vince claimed their victory with a 19-13 success.

A 27-9 win for Maureen Tims was pivotal to Whitnash Ladies’ 52-40 triples victory over Royal Leamington Spa.

Elizabeth G Jones (19-12) responded for Spa, with Barbara Robinson edging out Donna Kerr 13-12 in the other match.
