Ansell and Madden herald new dawn at Cleary’s

The duo have been travelling up and down the country to spar and train with some of the best female boxers in England, drawing a host of compliments along the way.

They are among five female boxers at the gym with Cleary singling out Madden, who has made the switch from Warwick, for special praise.

“I’d like to give Bella a big pat on the back after narrowly missing out in the Development Championships,” said Cleary.

“She’s really pushed on, not felt sorry for herself and shown true fighting spirit.

“She’s sparred close to 50 rounds in everyone’s backyards, some of these rounds with elite fighters.

“She’s settled in very well now at the gym and has made some very big improvements.”

Madden and Ansell along with Gabby Considine will be showcasing their skills on Cleary’s Gym’s home show at the Assembly on Saturday December 5.

Also on the show, Danny Quatermaine will challenge new senior elite lightweight champion Owen O’Leary.

O’Leary, who claimed the belt after holder Ash Taleghani was forced to pull out of their fight at short notice, is making a voluntary defence against Quartermaine.

The fight follows Quartermaine’s controversial loss to the Bell Green fighter a month ago.

If Quartermaine wins he will be the first fighter to hold both the youth and senior Central England elite belts at the same time.
