Heavy defeats for Warwick

Warwick 1sts succumbed to a 66- run defeat in their final warm-up game at Nuneaton.

Nuneaton elected to bat first and scored 240 for five from their 50 overs with Allen (80) and Rice (55) top-scoring.

In reply, Warwick were dismissed for 174. Rob Geraghty made 36 and Damon Goulding scored 33.

The 2nds’ match at home to Nuneaton was a one-sided affair with the visitors sealing a 186-run win.

Nuneaton posted an impressive target of 290 for two from their 45 overs with Harris (100 not out), Topp (85 not out) and Greenwood (47) among the runs.

Warwick’s reply never gained any momentum in the face of fine bowling from Wilkinson (5-25) and they were dismissed for 104 in the 30th over. Oliver Gray (23) and Dan Robbins (22) were the only batsmen to pass 20.

The 3rds also suffered a heavy defeat, going down by 142 runs at Nuneaton, who again won the toss and elected to bat.

Chris Knight scored 142 as Nuneaton posted a formidable target of 250 for seven from their 45 overs.

Sarson top-scored with 28 in Warwick’s 108 all out, with Greenwood doing the damage with five for 16.

To cap a miserable weekend for Warwick, their Sunday 1sts were also on the receiving end of a heavy loss.

Batting first against Coventry side Standard, Warwick reached 205 for eight thanks to contributions from Steve Dyer (61) and Mark Passey (41).

Standard eased to their target in 30 overs for the loss of just one wicket, with Bennett (88 not out), Stride (81 not out) scoring the bulk of the runs.
