Soggy display from Spa men’s 3rds

Leamington 3rds were the only one of the club’s teams to get a game on last Saturday, with Ashton-under-Hill agreeing to play their Cotswold Hills Division One encounter despite a soggy outfield.

In a match reduced to 35 overs a side, Ashton batted well against some ordinary bowling to score 166 for six.

In response, Leamington limped to 83 all out.

Leamington will be keeping their fingers crossed the rain relents, with several high-profile competitions scheduled for their Arlington Avenue ground in the coming weeks.

Two days later, the ground hosts an over-60s match between Warwickshire and Australia (2pm start) and the following week it is the ladies’ turn as the ECB hold their annual T20 competition in Leamington.

This will take place on Monday July 30 and Tuesday July 31.
