Stoneleigh stumble to defeat

After a number of good batting performances in recent weeks, Stoneleigh came down to earth with a bump against a youthful Middleton Cheney side, who showed just why they are promotion contenders in South Northants Division One.

Put in to bat on a pitch which should have held no terrors, Stoneleigh’s top order was blown away by Stephen King and Josh Nadin.

Sohail Iqbal top-scored with 21, with the last six wickets falling for just 14 runs.

King and Nadin took three wickets apiece while first-change bowler Mike Ramsdale picked up four for 16.

Andy Cross showed how it should be done when the visitors batted, making 42 in quick time with 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Darren Young had him caught at slip after bowling Ashley Cox in the previous over but the result was never in doubt as Middleton reached their target inside ten overs.
