Doyle digs deep to break 17 records in under one hour

Balsall Common endurance athlete Paddy Doyle dug deep again to beat his own world record for the most strength/fitness records achieved in an hour.

Doyle, who set the previous mark of 14 at the first World Record Holders Cup in USA 2007, went on to complete 17 in 57 minutes to move closer to overhauling Steve Butler’s world title for the most strength, endurance and physical fitness records set in a calendar year.

Dean Gould, president of the Registry of World Record Holders, paid tribute to Doyle, saying: “Paddy is an outstanding endurance athlete who deserves more recognition.

“When his mind is focused he has an animalistic, aggressive, determined streak which is why he the world’s number one endurance athlete.”

A breakdown of Doyle’s 17 records in one hour (all carrying a 75lb backpack except the one-arm push-ups (60lb)):

Most full-contact left elbow strikes in one minute = 93.

Most full-contact right elbow strikes in one minute = 187.

Most left leg full-contact roundhouse kicks (above waist level) in one minute = 48.

Most right leg full contact roundhouse kicks (above waist level) in one minute = 54.

Ten one-arm push-ups (right arm only) in 20:58secs.

Most left and right full-contact elbow strikes in one minute = 170.

Most full-contact forward kicks (3.5ft) in two minutes = 82.

Most step-ups and squat jumps combined on a 15-inch bench in one minute also carrying two 15kg dumb bells = 7.

Most full contact punches and kicks in three minutes = 299.

Most boxing upper cuts in three minutes = 376.

Most squats in two minutes = 63.

Twenty military circuit training jumping jacks and 20 step-ups on a 15-inch bench = 1 min 18sec.
