Fitchford clean sweep as Free Church seven go through to the Nationals

Players from Lillington Free Church TTC enhanced the reputation of their club by securing seven places in the National Championships at the West Midlands Regional qualifiers held at Wood Green in Wednesbury.

Pride of place went to Robbie Fitchford, who won all seven games in the Under-12 Boys beating Matthew Kirke, Ben Muckley, Ben Smith and Rob Tasker of Staffordshire, Jamie Chen of Shropshire, Tim Adams of Warwickshire and club mate Ricardo Bolanos.

Bolanos won four of his seven matches to finish third overall and to also gain qualification.

Earlier he had secured third place and another national entry in the under-11 Boys’ Singles posting good wins over Rob Tasker and Staffordshire’s Joshua Webb.

Jack Green finished second in his initial group in the under-13 Boys, losing to the eventual winner, Charlie Kendrick but wins over Callum Ball, Warwickshire, Luke Gittins, Staffordshire and Jake Price, Herefordshire, ensured a third place finish and a qualifying spot. Clubmate Oscar Dalrymple finished a creditable tenth in this event.

Adam Cofler was Free Church’s final qualifier, taking fourth place in the Under-14 Boys with wins over Kyeon Aiken, Warwickshire, Torin Cooper, Matt Dumont and Sebastian Halden all of Staffs ensuring a second spot in his first group.

Wins over Jack Green and Lewis Acton of Staffs gained him a place in the Nationals.

Green will be first reserve after finishing fifth and Lewis Singleton had a strong finish, victories over Jack Wood, Staffs, and Halden gaining him tenth place.
