Management duo staying on at Town

Wayne Goss and Richard Kay have agreed to continue as Town’s management team on a permanent basis.

Since arriving at the club in the wake of Gary Jones’ departure in early March, the duo have guided the team to six victories in their ten league games in charge, including wins against newly crowned champions Earlswood Town and runner-up Knowle.

More impressive, though, has been their impact around the club, with their enthusiasm and professionalism lifting all involved.

On agreeing to extend his time in charge, Goss said: “I’m delighted to be taking on the job on a permanent basis.

“We’ve enjoyed the past few weeks in charge, have learned a lot about the qualities we have in the squad and how the club in general operates.

“We consciously decided not to unsettle the team any further by introducing new players mid season which enabled us to give all of the current players the opportunity to show what they can do. The results we have achieved and the spirit we have nurtured in the changing room I think justifies that decision.

“We had the chance to evaluate where we are on the pitch, as well as off it, and are now looking to enhance the team and the support structure around it going forward.”

Former Southam United midfielder Kay agreed, saying: “Its been a great few weeks and I’d like to add our thanks to the club for not hesitating in offering us the roles going forward.

“The schedule of games since we have arrived has been hectic so we’ve not really had a chance to get the lads on to the training pitch and to work on their game from that aspect.

“I’ve told them all to go and have a good rest for the next few weeks as we are starting back for pre-season in no time at all.

“The squad we have has lots of talent and I’m very much looking forward to bringing that out of them with a quality pre-season schedule.”

Town’s first team are set to return to Gypsy Lane for the 2011/12 campaign having spent a season at Stratford Town.

The club are looking to supplement the team of volunteers already in place and would welcome interest from anybody keen to get involved with the club, be that on a matchday or in helping to develop a number of community programmes in the coming year.
