Sainsbury’s in Leamington have agreed to support the club’s healthy-eating initiative throughout the 2014/15 season by donating oranges every week.

Ryan Cranton, the driving force behind the new FA Charter Standard football club for boys and girls aged five to 11 years, said the tradition was a “quintessential part of British football” that has almost entirely disappeared from the sport.

Club sponsors were joined by local MP Chris White and Mayor of Leamington Judith Clarke to watch one of the club’s coaching sessions at North Leamington School.

“I was really impressed by the research Ryan and the team have put into their campaign,” said White .

The club still have spaces for boys and girls who are in current school years 1 to 6 and are offering the first coaching session free of charge, with further sessions costing £2 per child.

Coaching sessions are held every Sunday from 10am.
