Relegation will be deserved says Racing Club boss

Racing Club Warwick boss Lee Knight says his side can have no complaints should they slide out of the Midland Combination Premier.

Rock-bottom Racing again let slip a lead to go down 2-1 at Southam United on Saturday and now face two crunch clashes against second-bottom Alveston as they attempt to salvage something from another disappointing campaign.

With Earlswood likely to make the step up from Division One, the bottom club in the Premier face an anxious wait to see if they will be demoted.

Should Racers be lining up in the lower tier next season, Knight says they only have themselves to blame.

“If we can’t win two of the next three games we deserve to finish bottom,” said Knight.

“No one can make any excuses, say I should have come in earlier or we shouldn’t have let him go or signed him.

“If you finish bottom it is a true reflection of your season.”

However, despite the reverse at Banbury Road, Knight saw enough in his side’s performance to suggest they can make up the four points on Alveston in their remaining three games.

“Hand on heart, I can see a massive improvement in us.

“Alveston are getting spanked every week and if we play like we did on Saturday we shouldn’t have any problems.”
