Perry, who eased past Egyptian Nouran Gouhar 11-9, 11-6, 11-8 in the opening round, overcame home favourite Wee Wern 11-3, 13-11, 9-11, 11-9 in a marathon 77-minute game.

Perry, who faces Egyptian Raneem El Welelly in the last eight, said she had extra motivation to beat Wee Wern.

“I’m definitely out to prove a point after the disappointment of not making the Commonwealth team,” said Perry.

“I was also out for revenge as Wee Wern beat me in Texas earlier in the year.

“I started really well and won the first in a flash. She stepped her game up after that and it became very close - 77 minutes is pretty long for a 3-1 match.

“But overall really pleased to make the quarter-finals here again.”
