Leamington Lawn produces two young champions

Leamington Lawn Tennis & Squash Club produced two winners at the recent Warwickshire County Tennis Championships.

In the 8-and-under boys’ event, Leamington had four of the eight quarter-finalists. Two of the players, Robin Harper and Zach Cale, progressed all the way to the final.

After a fantastic match, Harper prevailed 10-7 and became the club’s first county champion for several years.

In the 8-and-under girls’ event, Leamington’s Imogen George almost made it a double but she narrowly missed out, finishing second, but with the club producing three of the four 8-and-under county finalists, it only went to highlight the excellent level of play at the club.

Having seen so much success at the youngest tennis age group, Leamington then produced another county champion in the oldest junior age group.

In the 18-and-under girls’ event, Leamington’s Caitlin Knight took the title.

Caitlin is only 15 and will have a few more chances to defend her title in the coming years.
